LUSIA

Lusia can be defined as the Polesine capital of vegetable gardens and in particular of the homonymous sweet and crispy salad already certified with the IGP designation: the great fertility of the land is due to the flooding of the nearby Adige river. But there is no lack of historical evidence.
In the historical centre, in front of the church, there is a curious knotted column: it seems that it arrived in Lusia in 1400 directly from Constantinople by the Venetians.
Along the embankment of the Adige you can see an isolated tower: this is what remains, after being bombed in 1945, of the 12th century Este castle, later transformed into a residence by the Venetian Morosini family.
